Section ": Renewals are due prior to or on Sept 30th

dropped from membership role if no payment has been received
within 30 days of that same written notice). Members and B.O.M. members must be members in good standing (current with

National Honey Bee Day
Alachua County Beekeepers Club along with Columbia ,
Gilchrist , Levy ,
Marion , Lake County ,
Lake Area , and any other clubs wishing to
participate are hosting a
National Honey Bee
Day event for the celebration and public awareness of
honeybees. The event will feature displays, demonstrations,
auction, food, drinks, door prizes, Florida Apiary Inspectors
participation in live open-hive demonstrations, a visit from
Earlea Bee, an auction with Florida Ag “Hall of Famer”, Laurence
Cutts from Chipley, Florida as the auctioneer, Alyssa Fine (the
2012 American Honey Queen), some great scientists and longtime
beekeepers speaking about beekeeping and honeybees.

Deadline for
registration is June 15, 2012
The UF/IFAS Lee County Extension, in
collaboration with the Beekeepers Association of Southwest
Florida (BASF) offers a 4-week introductory beekeeping class
this summer.
Classes begin on Friday July 6, 2012.
Space is limited to 40 students. Students receive basic
startup kit including bee veil, smoker, bee box and resource
books. Bees will NOT be provided as part of this package!
Cost of the course is $200. Make
Checks payable to BASF (Mail to 3406 Palm Beach Blvd, FM
33916).
Pre-registration is necessary for inclusion

Morning classroom sessions will be held at
the Extension Office located in Terry Park. Afternoon
practical sessions will be conducted on the farm of a BASF
member beekeeper.
The Beekeepers Association of
Southwest Florida will be hosting the FSBA’s Summer
Business Meeting tentatively in June 2012. Date, location,
time, speakers, program, schedule, meal menu and additional
information will be announced as this information is made
